The Masks We Wear...
We all wear them.
The “I’m fine” mask.
The strong one.
The spiritual one.
The successful one.
The agreeable one.
We learned early that certain feelings
were inconvenient.
Too big. Too messy. Too vulnerable.
So we tucked them away…
and showed the world what felt safer.
We wear masks because:
We fear rejection.
We fear being misunderstood.
We fear being “too much”… or “not enough.”
We fear that if someone truly saw us
they might turn away.
But here is the quiet truth:
What we hide is often
the most beautiful part of us.
The tenderness.
The longing.
The unhealed ache that wants love.
The mask protects us --
but it also prevents us from being met.
This week, notice the mask
you put on without thinking.
Not to judge it.
But to gently ask:
“What am I protecting?”
“What would it feel like to soften here?”
You don’t have to rip the mask off.
Just loosen it.
The world doesn’t need your performance.
It needs your presence.
And the right souls will always
recognize what is real.
Healing doesn’t begin when we fix ourselves.
It begins when we feel safe enough
to be seen.
If you’re ready for that kind of space,
my door is open.
With love, smiles & hugs,
Gene
